Client: Virginia Mason Medical Center Industry: Health Care; Not-for-Profit Objective: Reduce costs of managing the communications function within Virginia Mason, while continuing to provide award-winning services to internal clients Our Recommendation: Reengineer and streamline the department, then outsource its management to MarketFitz Our Services: MarketFitz studied the workload and operations of the communications department, interviewed existing team members, and recommended a substantial restructuring based on just-in-time labor management. The 14-person department was replaced by five full-time equivalents and about 35 specialists, whose skills were tapped as needed, and its management was outsourced to MarketFitz. The Results: Overall costs were reduced substantially, and the department continued to win recognition for its publications and other materials. Awards: The outsourced MarketFitz team was awarded a PRSA Totem Awards for work under the scope of this contract, as the Virginia Mason team had in years past. |
